Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) Inhibitors are a medication that is used to help treat hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, as well as prevent heart failure. 

Captopril belongs to a group of medications known as Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitors, also known simply as ACE inhibitors. ACE inhibitors work by widening the blood vessels, making it easier for your heart to pump blood through them. 

You should only ever take your Captopril as it has been prescribed to you. You are usually able to take your medication whenever you would like, however, it is advisable to take the medication at the same time every day. 

You should only ever use the dosage of Captopril that you have been prescribed by your healthcare provider. The usual starting dosage is 6.25mg which could be increased to a maximum of 150mg a day. Dosage will vary from person to person.

Captopril may not be a suitable medication for some people. Do not use this medication if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in it. Do not use Captopril if:
