Eumovate cream and ointment have the same active ingredient – clobetasone butyrate 0.05%, a moderate topical corticosteroid used to reduce skin inflammation.

Skin inflammation occurs when irritation of the skin or an allergic reaction of the skin causes various substances to be released in the skin to make the blood vessels widen, resulting in an irritated area that becomes swollen, red, itchy, and painful.

Clobetasone acts inside the skin cells, stopping the release of the inflammatory substances. This results in the reduction of the swelling, itching, and redness, and helps in the prevention of scratching that will further irritate the skin.

  • Atopic eczema
  • Irritant contact dermatitis
  • Allergic contact dermatitis
  • Seborrhoeic dermatitis
  • Photodermatitis

  • Otitis externa
  • Prorigo nodularis
  • Nappy rash
  • Psoriasis

Eumovate may be prescribed as a maintenance treatment for the prevention of eczema flare-ups after they have controlled with the use of a strong steroid cream.

Eumovate ointment has more grease than the cream, making it more suitable for scaly and very dry areas of the skin. Eumovate cream is best used for the treatment of weepy or moist skin.

Clobetasone butyrate is the active ingredient of Eumovate cream and ointment. Eumovate works inside the skin cells, which effectively stops the release of the inflammatory substances that cause skin itching, redness, or swelling.

The use of Eumovate cream and ointment provides relief to the different skin conditions being treated.

Eumovate cream or ointment must be applied evenly and thinly to the affected areas of the skin once or twice a day, as directed by your doctor. The cream or ointment should not be applied to any infected or broken areas of the skin, unless the medication is being used also to treat the infection. Unless instructed by your doctor, do not apply the cream or ointment to your face.

Eumovate cream or ointment should not get into your eyes, nose, mouth, or genital area. In the event of accidental contact with those areas, rinse it immediately with cold water.

Your hands need to be thoroughly washed after applying Eumovate cream or ointment, unless your hands are being treated also.

The areas of the skin being treated should not be covered with airtight dressings unless directed by a doctor because it may result in the increased absorption of the medicine into the body, increasing the risks of side effects.

If your doctor will recommend the use of dressings with Eumovate, the skin should be thoroughly cleansed before applying the cream or ointment under a fresh dressing. Children’s waterproof pants and nappies will act as an airtight dressing and increase the absorption of the medicine.

Eumovate cream or ointment should be applied twice or thrice daily depending on the severity of the skin condition. It can be used intermittently long-term such as during weekends only.

Eumovate cream or ointment should be applied and rub gently into the skin of the affected areas. Maximum dosage for adults should not exceed 100-g/ week.

Most medications have some unwanted side effects. The side effects of Eumovate affect individual users in different ways. Some users of Eumovate may experience side effects and some will not. The side effects of Eumovate are mostly minor and will go away after a few days of use.

Eumovate cream and ointment are mostly well tolerated and the side effects are very rare when the cream or ointment is sparingly applied, which is not more than twice a day.

If you experience any symptoms of allergic reactions, such as itching, redness, or burning of the skin after you applied the cream or ointment, you should immediately stop using Eumovate and consult with your doctor.

When Eumovate is excessively applied for more than twice a day, for a prolonged period of time, to broken raw skin, underneath a dressing, or on thin areas of the skin that rub together, there will be a higher potential of side effects.

Usual side effects of topical steroids include thinning of the skin, hair growth, and stretch marks, although these side effects are very rare.

Most individuals find the use of Eumovate cream or ointment causes no side effects or problems when used in the right amount for the doctor prescribed length of time.

Before using Eumovate, inform your doctor if you are already using any other medicines, particularly any other corticosteroid medicines. If you need to use other topical medicine on the same area of the skin that you are treating with Eumovate, it is recommended that you keep several minutes between applying the two products. This will allow one product to be absorbed first by the skin and to avoid the two products from mixing on the skin.

Unless recommended by your doctor, do not use Eumovate cream and ointment while you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If your doctor will prescribe the use of Eumovate while you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should use it only on small areas of the skin, not underneath airtight dressings and not for a prolonged period of time. If you are going to apply Eumovate cream or ointment on your breast while you are breastfeeding, apply Eumovate to your breast after giving a feed.

You can safely buy Eumovate cream and ointment online at UK Meds. You will need to have first an online consultation with a pharmacist independent prescriber before your order will be supplied. The online consultation will ensure that Eumovate is the right medication for your medical condition.
