What is Exforge?
Exforge is a prescription medication that is used to help treat high blood pressure, also known as hypertension. Having high blood pressure means that you have a reading of 140/90mmHg or above.
How does Exforge work?
Amlodipine / Valsartan
Exforge contains two substances called amlodipine and valsartan. Amlodipine stops calcium from moving into the blood vessel wall which stops the blood vessels from tightening. Valsartan works by blocking the effect of angiotensin II, a substance made by the body that tightens blood vessels.
When to use Exforge?
You should only ever use Exforge as it has been prescribed to you. Usually, you will need to take your medication at the same time every day. This medication can be taken with or without food, however, it should not be taken with grapefruit or grapefruit juice.
What is the correct dosage of Exforge?
You should only ever use the dosage of Exforge that has been prescribed to you. The usual dosage of Exforge is one tablet a day, swallowed whole with the help of water.

Who is Exforge not suitable for?

No, you should not use Exforge if you are pregnant if you think you might be pregnant, or if you are trying to become pregnant. Exforge is not recommended for use during the first 3 months of pregnancy, and must NOT be used in the final 3 months of pregnancy.
Can you use Exforge if you are breastfeeding?
No, you should not use Exforge whilst you are breastfeeding. This is because a small amount of the medication has been shown to pass into breast milk.
