What is Lucette?
Lucette Contraceptive Pill
Lucette is a female contraceptive pill that is used to prevent unwanted pregnancy. It is a combination pill that contains two synthetic versions of the female sex hormones oestrogen and progesterone. The synthetic versions of these hormones in Lucette are called ethinylestradiol and drospirenone. When taken properly, Lucette is 99% effective at preventing pregnancy.
How does Lucette work?
As mentioned, Lucette combines two synthetic versions of the female sex hormones oestrogen and progesterone, these are known as ethinylestradiol and drospirenone. These two synthetic hormones work together to prevent an egg from being released from the ovaries. They also increase the amount of mucus in the cervix which makes it harder for sperm cells to reach the uterus.

You should make sure to read the patient information leaflet that is provided with your medication prior to taking your first dose. You should take one Lucette pill a day for 21 days. You should aim to start taking Lucette on the first day of your period in order to be protected from the start of your treatment.
