Pantoprazole is an anti-ulcer medication that helps reduce the amount of acid inside the stomach. This is specially made to treat conditions like acid reflux, heartburn, GERD or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

Pantoprazole is being sold in a tablet and liquid form. All Pantoprazole are prescription only medication. One can purchase the lower strength Pantoprazole tablet in 20 mg for acid reflux and heartburn at the pharmacy without a prescription.

For more information on the prescription medication patients should refer to the Pantoprazole 20mg and 40mg patient information leaflets.

Pantoprazole is an anti-ulcer medication. It is categorized as a PPI or proton pump inhibitor which blocks excess acid production inside the stomach. PPI drugs are used for treating ulcers, GERD, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and hyperacidity. Like other PPI drugs, Pantoprazole works by blocking the enzymes inside the stomach walls that create acid. By effectively blocking these enzymes, the acid production is greatly reduced and it enables the oesophagus as well as the stomach to heal itself.

Pantoprazole is a PPI medication and it works to shut off the cells that are producing acid in the stomach. It helps reduce the acid levels in the stomach and help prevent painful symptoms associated with certain ailments as GERD or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease.

Pantoprazole is sold as an oral tablet, liquid suspension, and as an IV or intravenous drug that can be administered intravenously by a nurse or medical expert.

Pantoprazole as a medication is primarily used to minimize the levels of stomach acid in the body. It aids in treating the many painful symptoms of health conditions as ulcers, hyperacidity, GERD or gastroesophageal reflux disease, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and more.

Patients can take Pantoprazole with or without food. Take the medication as prescribed by your nurse, prescriber, or pharmacist. Be sure to take Pantoprazole the same time every day for best results.

Do not break, cut, chew, or crush the Pantoprazole tablet. Follow the exact dosage for the liquid suspension. Always ask a medical expert or physician to administer the IV suspension of Pantoprazole drug.

Pantoprazole oral tablet comes in strengths of 20-40 milligrams. For the effective treatment of stomach ulcers, GERD, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and hyper acidity, make sure you follow your doctor’s advice on the proper dosage to be used for your treatment. Do not use a minimal dose or use beyond what is prescribed. Always consult your doctor before taking any medicine.

For patients with duodenal ulcers, the recommended dosage for adults aged 18 years and older is 15 milligrams once every day for the next 4 weeks.

For patients with GERD or (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease), the recommended dosage for adults aged 18 years old and above is 15 milligrams once every day for the next 8 weeks.

For patients who intend to use Pantoprazoletablet for long term maintenance of GERD  or (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) or Duodenal ulcer, the recommended dosage for daily use is one 15 milligram of Pantoprazole tablet for 8 weeks.

For patients aged 18 years and older who want to treat gastric ulcer and severe esophagitis, the ideal dosage is 30 milligrams for the duration of four to eight weeks.

For patients aged 18 years and older who wanted to treat their Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome, the recommended dosage is 60 milligrams a day. This dosage will be then eventually adjusted based on the medical response of the patient. There are some cases where patients with Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome are advised to take 180 milligrams of Pantoprazole tablet.

Patients who are unable to take oral Pantoprazole tablets may take the medication intravenously. The prescribed intravenous dosage of Pantoprazole is 30 milligrams to be taken for 7 days continuously.

If your medical condition does not improve after taking Pantoprazole, or where it becomes worse, talk to your nurse, prescriber, or pharmacist and let them know about your condition. Never attempt to stop taking the medication without informing your doctor.
