Xigduo - Key Information
What is Xigduo?
Xigduo is a prescription medication used to help control blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes. It is an oral anti-diabetic that works alongside diet and exercise to help manage the condition.
How Does Xigduo Work?
In type 2 diabetes, the pancreas doesn’t produce enough insulin, or the body can’t use it effectively. This leads to high blood sugar levels, which can cause serious health issues. Xigduo helps lower and regulate blood sugar to keep it within a healthy range.
What Are the Benefits of Taking Xigduo?
Type 2 diabetes can cause symptoms like extreme thirst, frequent urination, and fatigue. If left untreated, it can lead to complications affecting the eyes, heart, and nervous system. Xigduo helps reduce these risks by keeping blood sugar levels stable.

Xigduo is a prescription-only medicine, so you should always follow your doctor’s instructions and read the patient information leaflet that comes with it.
Take one tablet whole with a glass of water, ideally with food to reduce the risk of an upset stomach. While you can take it at any time of day, it’s best to take it at the same time every day to help you remember.
Dosage
What Is the Recommended Dosage for Xigduo?
Xigduo contains dapagliflozin and metformin, available in two strengths: 5 mg/850 mg or 5 mg/1,000 mg per tablet.
The usual dose is one tablet twice a day, but your doctor will decide the right dose based on your needs.
